Dr. Braunstein completed his residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, and Montefiore Medical Center. Early in his career he served as an investigator in research on lens implants, work that helped shape techniques now considered standard. He practiced in New Jersey for 25 years before being recruited to a hospital position in New York City, where he has practiced since.
Outside the office, Dr. Braunstein is a collector of antique silver and an enthusiastic traveler, with Europe his favorite destination. Asked what he'd be doing if he hadn't chosen ophthalmology, his answer comes quickly: dermatology.
Her clinical interests include geriatric eye care, dry eye, glaucoma, and retinal disease. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, rollerblading, and time with her family.
He earned his medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University after studying biology at Birmingham-Southern College. During his ophthalmology residency at Nazareth Hospital, he served as Chief Resident, where he built the program's grand rounds and academic curriculum and established surgical wet labs in partnership with industry to give residents hands-on time with current techniques. He is currently completing a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he also serves as a Clinical Instructor, leading wet labs in ocular trauma, cataract surgery, and vitrectomy. His clinical experience includes work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Festok is actively involved in surgical innovation, including the design of new ophthalmic instruments. Teaching remains central to his work: he is as invested in training the next generation of eye surgeons as he is in the outcomes of the patients in front of him.
She provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for various medical conditions, supporting patients through evaluation, treatment planning, and follow-up. Ms. Vardina collaborates closely with physicians and takes a detail-oriented approach to clinical decision-making. Her care emphasizes preventive strategies, patient education, and timely intervention — she strives to ensure patients feel informed, respected, and confident in their health management process.

Most adults should have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years. Children, contact lens wearers, and anyone with diabetes, glaucoma, or another chronic eye condition may need to be seen more often — your provider will recommend a schedule based on your individual eye health.
A red or irritated eye can have many causes, from allergies and dry eye to infection or a foreign body. Avoid rubbing the eye and contact our office — if symptoms are severe, sudden, or involve vision changes or trauma, seek emergency care right away.
Yes — our on-site optical shop offers eyeglass dispensing, fittings, adjustments, and repairs, along with a selection of frames. We also offer contact lens exams and fittings for soft, toric, multifocal, and RGP lenses.
Yes. Our optometry team provides comprehensive exams for adults and children, including myopia management, and our ophthalmologists see pediatric patients as well.

Call our office right away during business hours (Mon-Thu 9 AM-3 PM, Fri 9 AM-2 PM) for urgent issues like a foreign body, sudden vision changes, or an eye injury. Outside our hours, or for a serious injury, please go to the nearest emergency room.
